When you choose a direct cremation funeral plan you want to know your money is safe and will be there to pay for your funeral when the time comes.

With Distinct Cremations, you can rest assured that your money is kept safe until the time it is needed for your funeral, no matter what the future holds.

Distinct Cremations is authorised and regulated by the FCA

In order to comply with the regulations of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and to maintain their status as an authorised provider, Distinct Funeral Plans Limited must:

Hold and invest money received into either an independent trust fund or life insurance policy

Maintain a minimum solvency in the fund of 110% of the funds liabilities

Have the accounts of the fund independently audited each year by a qualified accountant

Ensure that the money in the fund is managed by an FCA regulated investment manager

Have the fund actuarially valued each year by an independent actuary to determine the ability of the fund to meet its obligations to plan holders

Provide detailed data and copies of the annual audited accounts and actuarial valuation to the FCA for review

Produce an annual Solvency Assessment Report (SAR) showing the level of solvency of the fund

In the event of a failure, plan holder funds are protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme

Ensure the trust is run by professional managing trustees, the majority of which must be independent of Distinct Funeral Plans Limited

How is your money protected when you choose a funeral plan with Distinct Cremations?

Every customer who takes out a funeral plan with Distinct Cremations is fully protected, whether you're paying with a single payment, over 12 months, 5 years or 10 years. Here's how we safeguard your money.

Pay for your plan in a one-off payment or over 12 monthly payments:

Funds from your funeral plan are held in a secure trust managed by trustees
Your money can only ever be used towards the cost of your funeral and nothing else
When the person for whom the plan is intended dies, we contact the trustees to request a withdrawal which is only approved after the cremation has taken place

Pay for your plan over 5 or 10 years:

Distinct Cremations purchase a 'whole of life' policy from Scottish Friendly - an authorised and regulated insurance provider. The money you pay each month is transferred to Scottish Friendly to cover the cost of the policy, with Distinct Cremations keeping a small amount each month to cover the cost of managing your plan over the term selected
The proceeds of that policy will be used to pay for the funeral at the time of need
The policy proceeds are only paid out to Distinct Cremations after the funeral has taken place
